OSAT Blog Hop - Fall/Halloween

Happy October and welcome to another OSAT Blog Hop!  The theme for this month is Fall or Halloween!  I normally am not into Halloween very much, but this year I am definitely more into it!  We recently attended the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and that made me excited for Halloween.

I always do a little something for my niece and nephew for Halloween.  My nephew in particular is super into Harry Potter right now as he just read all the books.  The combination of Harry Potter & Halloween just seemed like the right fit then for my card & project!

To me it's easiest to share the details on the card and project with a list of each element. Here's all the card details:
  • Basic Black card base - 11" x 4 1/4" and score at 5 1/2"
  • Cherry Cobbler layer - 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
  • Brick Wall is Cherry Cobbler cardstock  1" x 4".  I then used the Brick Wall embossing folder with Cherry Cobbler ink applied to it.  It was popped with Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Basic Gray layer is  4 " x 5 1/4" cardstock.  I used a Post-It note mask for the moon punched with a 1 3/8" circle.  I then sponged all over the cardstock using Smoky Slate ink.
  • Branch - Seasonal Layers Framelits branch using Early Espresso cardstock and adhered with the adhesive sheets.  This was trimmed once adhered to the Basic Gray layer as it was longer than the card front.
  • Cat was punched out of the Spooky Nights DSP using the Cat Punch.  I used the adhesive strips to adhere the cat & witch hat as a I wanted a little thicker pop than the Stampin' Dimensionals.
  • Witch Hat was cut out of the Spooky Nights DSP.
  • Hedwig (the owl) was stamped in Versamark on Smoky Slate cardstock.  It was then heat embossed using Whisper White powder.  I added a little Crushed Curry marker for the eyes and cut it out with my paper snips.  Hedwig is adhered using glue dots.
  • The sentiment is from the Stampin' Up! set Spooky Cat.  It was stamped on Crushed Curry cardstock in Cherry Cobbler ink.  The Classic Label Punch was used to punch it out.
  • The inside of the card is a Whisper White layer of  4 " x 5 1/4" with a 1 1/2" x 4" layer of the Spooky Nights DSP in the potions pattern as it was perfect for this card!

I created the project as I was creating the cards.  The Hedwig, cat, and sentiment elements are exactly as described above.  The treat holder is a 6" x 6" piece of the Spooky Nights DSP.  I thought the potions pattern was perfect for this project!  It is a diaper fold where you fold it diagonally in the middle so you have a triangle.  Then you fold from the right and left and then fold the top part down to create a little pocket.  I tucked in my new favorite Halloween candy.  They are cauldron Skittles and a Halloween mix of Starburst.  We had them at Mickey's Halloween party and I LOVED them!  I might have recently purchased multiple bags of them at Target!!

I hope you have enjoyed my card & project!  Your next stop in the hop is from Jennifer!  Enjoy the hop!

ICS Blog Hop - Ribbon of Courage

Woo Hoo it's the first Wednesday of the month you know what that means RIGHT? ICS Blog hop time! Our theme this month of October is all Colors of Courage!  October is Breast Cancer Awareness month so this is a very fitting theme.  Enjoy the hop and feel free to leave us some love in the form of a comment, we love hearing from you!

These cards showcase Patty Bennett's One Million Dollar Achiever stamp set titled Ribbon of Courage.  It also has coordinating framelits.  The color combinations are Melon Mambo & Blushing Bride and Tangerine Tango & Pumpkin Pie for breast and kidney cancers.  The hearts and flowers were stamped and then followed by cutting out the ribbon with a framelit.  This showcases the eclipse technique that has become one of my favorite!  I use the foam adhesive strips for this technique because it pops more than the Stampin' Dimensionals.  The sentiments are stamped in coordinating colors and cut out with the Duet Banner Punch.

There are so many different colors representing different cancers.  Here is a great color chart from the American Cancer Society.

I hope you enjoyed my cards!  The next stop in our blog hop is Deb!
