A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop - One in a Melon

Welcome to our fabulous A Paper Pumpkin Thing Blog Hop!  Every month I receive a surprise card/project kit from Stampin' Up!, and the June kit is melon/fruit themed.

I love the kit this month as I am a big fan of vegetables, fruit, gardening, and the farmers market!  This box just screams summer fruit season!!  I created this alternate card & project while I was visiting my fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrator and friend in Texas.  I am so glad I worked on it early as I am under the weather this week.  I'm a big fan of the note cards in the kit, so that was my inspiration for my card & project.

Details for the card:
  • Note card from kit
  • Yellow banner from kit (intended for kit bag)
  • Banner from kit with sentiment from Stampin' Up! Colorful Seasons stamp set in Emerald Envy
  • Circle piece (intended for kit bag) and cut in two
  • Lemon stamped on circle piece with full strength Crushed Curry for skin/rhind and inside/fruit is stamped in Crushed Curry after stamping off
  • Wink of Stella is used on the lemon to make it shimmer
Details for the tea bag wrapper project:
  • Band is cut from the watermelon bag
  • 1 3"4" circle punch cut out from the note card front
  • Tabs for Everything stamp set in Lemon Lime Twist for the "FOR YOU" and "enjoy" sentiments on the back of the whisper part of the note card
  • Circle Tab Punch for the "enjoy" and 3/4" circle punch for the "FOR YOU"

I hope you enjoyed my card and project.  Thanks for visiting!  Your next hop in the blog is Rachel!

Neighbor Advertisting Bags

This is a much, much, much overdue post!  Back in April of this year I created some neighbor advertising bags and delivered on Easter morning.

Here's a photo of everything that was in the bag.  I will also explain each item in more detail and things I would do differently when I do this again.

The bag consisted of.....
  • Bag - I got these from the dollar store.  They were 3 for $1.
  • Treat bag (see detailed photo below) - I used a small clear bag and packed it with an inexpensive seed packet and some Easter candy.  The bag topper was DSP (in this case it was retired) with a label that I stamped.
  • Paper Pumpkin Postcard/Pamphlet - These are supply items available to purchase by demos.  There's also some printouts you could print and include.  Paper Pumpkin is a great item to advertise since it is all inclusive!
  • Introduction, Contact Info, and Schedule Sheet - The top of the sheet was an introduction about who I am and how long we have lived in the neighborhood.  I also wrote a few sentences about my classes and about Stampin' Up! as a company.  I included my contact information - email, blog, and Facebook business page.  The majority of the sheet was my upcoming class schedule.  It included all the details of when, where, what, and how much.
  • Catalog Page (see detailed photo below) - I used some old catalogs and tore out individual pages.  I put a label on it that says "If you like what you see on this page - please contact me for a catalog."

On Easter morning I went door to door and hung them on a front door knob or left them on their porch.  I ended up passing out about 50, but we have over 300 homes in our neighborhood.  I focused on our immediate neighbors and one other street.  It took a couple hours as I had to be careful to skip the no solicitor sign houses.  Each bag ended up costing  about $1.50.  The biggest expenses are the bag and candy.  I haven't had any neighbor specifically contact me about classes based on this advertising, but I did see a spike in Facebook business page traffic.

I definitely have some things that I would do different when I do this next time.  I think I might do it again around back to school time and put a couple inexpensive school supplies in the treat bag.  Here's what I would do differently.....
  • Use a different bag!  At 33 cents each the bag was one of the biggest expenses.  There are door knob hanging clear bags that you can find on Amazon.  You could also use the gift bag punch board with some ribbon.
  • Include some sort of class discount coupon to encourage them to come to a class.
  • Don't include chocolate in the treat bags - it melts very easily!
  • Include a Paper Pumpkin completed project - bag, card, etc.
I would love to hear in the comments section how you have reached out to your neighbors!  Happy Stamping!!!!

ICS Blog Hop It's A Guy Thing

Woo Hoo it's the first Wednesday of the month you know what that means RIGHT? ICS Blog hop time! Our theme this month of June is It's A Guy Thing!  I also wanted to showcase some of the brand new 2017-2018 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog items!  Enjoy the hop and feel free to leave us some love in the form of a comment, we love hearing from you!

I needed to make my Dad's Father's Day card since it's coming up quick!  Every year my Dad and I go to the Indiana State Fair just the two of us.  Even though I don't live in the state anymore I take a trip to visit to continue our tradition.  We eat our way through the fair and enjoy all the buildings, displays, animals, and projects.  Most importantly we enjoy the daughter & father time together!  With that in mind, I wanted to make his Father's Day card this year in a country/farm theme.  The new Heartland stamp set was the perfect match for this theme.

Card base is Night of Navy  - 4 1/4" x 11" and scored at 5 1/2"
DSP layer (new Wood Textures DSP!!!)- 4" x 5 1/4"

Very Vanilla layer inside - 4" x 5 1/4"

I stamped the tractor in Night of Navy on a scrap of Very Vanilla and cut it out with the largest square from the fabulous Stitched Shapes Framelits.  The Night of Navy mat is just a square of cardstock cut at 2 3/4" x 2 3/4".

I used the always reliable Teeny Tiny Wishes for the sentiment in conjunction with the new to me Classic Label Punch.  The brand new Mini Stampin' Dimensionals are the perfect size to pop the sentiment!

I hope you enjoyed my card!  The next stop in our blog hop is Candy!
