Elegant Butterfly Birthday Cards

I recently received an Etsy order for some butterfly birthday cards, and they were interested in a variety of colors as they wanted 6 cards. It is amazing to me how much just a color change will make the cards look different and fun! I don't make the same card in different colors enough, but I think this will be a goal going forward. These aren't the greatest photos, but it was dark outside by the time I finished them and needed to get them packaged up.

Here's the basic supplies I used on the cards. The butterflies, base cardstock, and honeycomb are in the colors below. The fern was stamped in Old Olive.

OSAT Blog Hop - Monochromatic

Welcome to the One Stamp At a Time Blog Hop for May - Monochromatic! I hope you enjoyed the marvelous projects by Tina and enjoy the rest of the blogs along the hop!

This month I struggled a bit for what to do for my card and project. The thought eventually came to mind to make a card and coordinating bookmark for a good friend.

My card is a little different than a normal card this month. It is your normal 4.25"x5.5," but the front has two panels that are 2 1/8"x5.5" and opens in the middle. I embossed the two front panels (Real Red cardstock) with the spring flowers embossing folder by Stampin' Up!. I then used my circle framelits and cut out a piece of Melon Mambo and Whisper White cardstocks. The Melon Mambo is stamped with Real Red ink using the Stampin' Up! Choose Happiness stamp set. I haven't used this stamp set very often, so I thought it would be a great one for the blog hop this month. The Whisper White is stamped with Melon Mambo ink from the same stamp set. These layers are put together and adhered to the card base with dimensionals.

I added a bit of stamping to the inside panel.

To coordinate with this card I made a bookmark.

This bookmark was made using the same Choose Happiness stamp set by Stampin' Up!. Again I stamped on the Melon Mambo layer and the Whisper White layer adding a different sentiment. I used a tag topper punch and Melon Mambo ribbon to finish it off with an elegant touch.

CYCI 69 Sketch Challenge

I'm trying my first Can You Case It challenge and am super excited to do so! I love the Adventure Bound paper from Stampin' Up! as it is great for masculine cards, so I thought I would use it in this card. Here is my card based on the above sketch!

The card base is a normal 4.25"x5.5" size using Whisper White cardstock. The designer paper layer is 4"x5.25" and has a couple small banners on it from the same paper stack. Happy Birthday is from the marvelous Guy Greetings stamp set accented with Island Indigo candy dots on a layer of Basic Gray. This was a lot of fun doing this sketch challenge, and I look forward to doing many more!!

OSAT Blog Hop Mother's Day

My mom's interests were my inspiration for my card and project. I hope she likes them! Here is the front of my card.

This is made with a whisper white card base, matted in blackberry bliss, and then added a layer of painted blooms DSP embossed with the spring flowers folder. The painted petals stamp set was used for the sentiment (embossed in gold) and flowers (blackberry bliss & wild wasabi). A layer of wild wisabi is used to mat the whisper white with the flowers on it. I used our wonderful jute ribbon as a background, but modified it by cutting it on top and bottom and peeling some of the layers away. A couple of these layers were then used to make the bow. I don't stamp the inside very often, but wanted to do so on this card. This sentiment is from my go-to stamp set called Teeny Tiny Wishes! A list of all materials used for both projects is at the bottom of this post.

My mom recently visited while she was on spring break. A favorite place for us to visit is the botanical gardens. We had a beautiful day, and we enjoyed this field of crocus which was my inspiration for my other project.

My next project is framed art inspired by this scene at the botanical gardens.

My project used one of my current favorite Stampin' Up! sets - Sheltering Tree! The tree is early espresso and pink pirouette. The grass is done in wild wasabi with flowers in daffodil delight, perfect plum, and elegant eggplant (with garden green stems). I used my scallop punch to make a template for my clouds and then sponged on the whisper white cardstock in both soft sky and marina mist to create the sky. This is matted with a 5x7 early espresso cardstock in a 5x7 white frame from any store.

A fun & recent birthday card

I recently worked on this birthday card for a to be determined birthday......

It uses a technique called "stained glass." To do this you stamp with Versamark and then put embossing powder on vellum & heat the embossing powder. I let them dry for a little bit and then took my SU markers and colored on the back of the vellum. It's important to stay inside the lines of the embossed image. Allow it to dry after you have colored, otherwise it comes off on your fingers (speaking from experience). :) I then punched out the flowers to add to my card.

OSAT Blog Hoppers Spring Flowers

This is my first Blog Hop, so I am super excited to share my card. Here's the spring flowers card I made to share with you!

I started with a 4 1/4 x 5 1/2" crumb cake cardstock and stamped the SU Hardwod stamp on it for the card base in chocolate chip ink. I then stamped a second one in order to cut out the 3d pieces of the door. Cut out 4 squares that are 1 3/8" and add stampin dimensionals to the back of them and adhere to card base. Set this aside as we move onto the wreath.

Use a scrap piece of cardstock to cutout the flower wreath base. I used the 3 3/16" and 2 3/8" circles framelits to create the wreath base for the flowers. Stamp and punch out 5 or 6 flowers using our 2013-2015 In Colors (Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush, and Coastal Cabana) using the Petite Petals stamp set & punch. Layout the flowers on the wreath base until it is a look that you like. Spread glue over the wreath and start adhering the flowers to the wreath base. When this is complete, take your extra flowers and add stampin dimensionals to them and pop a few up on the wreath. Add a small piece of ribbon to the back of the wreath. I used the Coastal Cabana Sale-a-bration ribbon, and I looped it and adhered to the back of the wreath with glue dots. Use stampin dimensionals to adhere the flower wreath to your card base. Place a chocolate chip candy dot to create what looks like a door handle.

The sentiment is from the painted petals stamp set stamped with chocolate chip on whisper white cardstock. Punch it out using the decorative label punch. Using the same punch, punch the background piece out of chocolate chip cardstock. Cut this background piece in half horizontally to mat your sentiment & adhere. Add stampin dimensionals to the back of the sentiment.

Now it's time to put everything together for your easel card! Cut a piece of crumb cake cardstock to 4 1/4 x 11" and score along the 11" side at 2 3/4" and 5 1/2." Fold at the 5 1/2" score line and then fold back at the 2 3/4" score line. Add adhesive to the top 2 3/4 x 4 1/4" section getting it ready for your card base. Add the card base and then the sentiment and ta-da your card is complete!!! At the bottom of the post is a supply list of materials I used.

Butterfly Grapevine Spring Wreath

I love our Stampin' Up! Butterfly Thinlets Dies! This project was super simple! I cut many butterflies out of half sheets of cardstock, and they are hot glued onto the grapevine wreath. This wreath was purchased at a big box craft store and is roughly 14 inches.
